Halloween Honeymoon Memories

Six years ago Ryan and I honeymooned in Salem, MA. I dressed up as a scary doll and he was Freddy Kruger (sigh). You should've seen the look on the line of women in the ladies' room! I don't think any of my costumes have frightened more people than the scary doll. As soon as I can, I'll find and post a picture.

Anyway, my honeymoon was the most romantic week of my life. It confirmed that I'd found the one person who wouldn't think I was weird for wanting to take a moonlit walk through a cemetary, or go traipsing through a haunted house or watch a scary movie through the narrow spaces between my fingers. The night before Halloween we walked to The Lobster Shanty for dinner in the pattering rain. As we walked by the cemetary, I sighed and tucked my arm through his and said, "I'm so happy I found you."

Six year later, I feel the same way.

What a great honeymoon story! I love that it's so completely different than most.

So we both have connections to Salem AND Freddy Kruger, huh? LOL

Oh and btw, dolls are freaky whether they LOOK scary or not. ::shudder:: No matter their appearance, they still come to life at night. Yeesh. ;-)

Happy Anniversary and Happy Halloween!

This is such a cool, Mary.

Don and I visited Salem once, and I just couldn't shake the profound sadness that engulfed me. It got so bad that I could not step foot in one of the sightseeing attractions. I think it was a dungeon or something advertised to be where the accused witches were held.

Interestingly, though -- we rounded a corner on our private walking tour and discovered a little shop that claimed to be the "Only Angel Shop in Salem." I found the most adorable porcelain cherub that I just had to have, despite the great care it took to get that sweet little guy with the impish smile safely back home without breaking it. Today it perches on my monitor stand.

Happy Halloween & Happy Anniversary!

Michele: I don't care for dolls, either. I once had to sleep in a room full of them - they had those realistic eyes that seemed to follow me where I stood. I don't know how I made it out alive!

Thanks Alyson!

Gillian: I know the musuem you're talking about. It was profoundly sad. As a human being, you can't help but wonder what would possess people to treat others like that. Fear is a very powerful force, which means that the world needs us romance writers to push out the love.

Mary,

You and Ryan are the lucky ones to have found each other.

Also...I don't think Chris can thank you enough for marrying him...he found a kindred spirit in Ryan and made a wonderful close friend.
They are both a bit quirky:-) They are very lovable too...if I don't say so myself..

With Love,
~Sandy
